The New Guards

Welcome to The New Guards!

We are a new conservative outlet devoted to protecting and promoting Constitutional values, founding principles, and the inalienable rights endowed by our Creator.

Truth matters to us here at The New Guards, and we live in a time where truth’s presence in public discourse has dwindled to an all-time low. We’re determined to do something about it, and we’re starting with our name.

Think back to the scene from National Treasure where Nicolas Cage tells Justin Bartha that “if there’s something wrong, those who have the ability to take action have the responsibility to take action.” Do you remember how he justifies that conclusion? He quotes a line from the Declaration of Independence, saying, “Of all the words written here about freedom, there’s a line that’s at the heart of all the others.” It reads:

“But when a long train of abuses and usurpations, pursuing invariably the same Object evinces a design to reduce them under absolute Despotism, it is their right, it is their duty, to throw off such Government, and to provide new Guards for their future security.”

People don’t talk that way anymore.

We may not write with the same eloquence, but we’re committed to “talking that way” with the same determination, persistence, and scrutiny for truth, justice, and liberty.

We don’t advocate for the overthrowal of government—such would be unwise and unnecessary. The United States of America is the single greatest nation ever forged upon the earth, and its structure is pure. That doesn’t mean that it was perfect from the beginning—slavery had to be abolished, among other things—but the system was devised in such a way that necessary changes could be enacted without squandering the inalienable individual rights of American citizens and starting from scratch every time. The United States of America was and is the greatest system of government ever created.

But somewhere along the line, we’ve forgotten our founding principles; we’ve become so determined to do things our way that we’ve bloated our government to the point of unsustainability—and it’s not tyranny as long as our guy is doing it. This needs to change, but not by rewriting our documents or reforging our nation. The framework is already here.

We don’t need a revolution. We need a restoration.

As we’ve seen with the rise of progressivism in both major parties, neither side has the best interests of America or the American people at heart. For a republic, which by definition means a representative government, the government sure doesn’t seem to be representing us.

We at The New Guards are sick of watching politicians reward themselves for, as Ted Cruz put it about Trump’s campaign, playing us for chumps.

We’re calling for a return to the founding principles of our nation, and we hereby declare our independence from progressives, RINOs, and any other tyrants whose policies and practices would prove destructive to our beloved country.

We pledge allegiance to the republic of the United States of America, to its flag, and to its foundational values.

We advocate for the overthrowal—not of government, but of those politicians and ideas that have corrupted it. And we will do it through truth, integrity, and a firm base in freedom.

Here to provide for the future security of this nation, we are…
